GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL
By Keith Bellamy
Over the years there have been comments made to me about someone having a lot of illness in their lives, or maybe there was a lot of tragedy in their lives. The comment is usually something like, "They must have done something terrible in their lives to have so many problems." In John 9:1-2, we notice, “As He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, ‘Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?’“ The apostles of Jesus had ideas similar to the comment that has been made to me about people who are having so much suffering. Jesus dispelled that notion with the previous passage in John.
Some will wonder if God is punishing certain folks in different parts of the world that are having earthquakes and the like, and some will make similar comments about the storms across our nation.
There were some present at that very time who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And He answered them, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." (Luke 13:1-5).
The point of our article is that God is still in control. And we need to be ready! We need to repent and be ready for we don't know at what hour we may be called home. We are not better than those who are suffering. So, let's look to God and admit we are but frail human beings and that He is an awesome God! We Have To Believe GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL!
